Bringing a new flare to pop and R&B, this Barbados based songwriter is set on a course to paint her career with a splash of new colors. Shontelle’s music, rooted in culture and feeling, reaches out and touches the very soul.

A bright person, she attended the University of the West Indies in the pursuit of a degree in law before being discovered by SRC. As a young woman, her music is easy for teenage girls to relate to, reassuring them that they aren’t alone. She is young, confident, and daring. Her music is bold, yet sweet- marked with both innocence and upbeat feeling. She can be described as the Shania Twain of R&B music.

Shontelle’s career as a musician has flourished particularly in the UK, where her single ‘T-shirt’ achieved the number one position on the UK’s R&B chart for 2009. The singles ‘T-Shirt,’ ‘Stuck With Each Other,’ and ‘Battle Cry’ have all been on the UK Singles Chart. She has toured with Beyoncé, and for the New Kids on the Block World Tour.

Before she was discovered, she was an athlete playing track and field, and even has been a drill sergeant. Since then, she has performed at a half-time show, and is the host of ‘My Prom Style!’ a reality series.

Her first album, ‘Shontelligence’, debuted first in late 2008, and again in early 2009. Her second album, ‘Licky’, is set for release in April ‘10.

Her style is dazzling and different, incorporating uniqueness while embracing individuality.

Shontelle sends a message with her work: she sends the message that no matter who you are, no matter where you come from or what you’ve done in the past, there is comfort in being able to express yourself, and that it is important to do what you enjoy doing.
